This Ashram was started in a Khar road (West) Mumbai. The Ashram is run for the homeless and helpless old people, mentally challenged patients, and children of mentally challenged patients
The JAS team works closely with the local police officials who help in admission and completing all the legal formalities. The team is well connected with various NGOs; in case of beneficiaries who are HIV or TB infected they are moved to respective homes with other NGOs.
JAS is constantly working toward the sensitization of the public toward the importance of looking after the elderly and the homeless. Apart from providing shelter and care for these destitute; JAS works in parallel toward creating awareness via sessions in schools and colleges to make them aware of the importance of looking after the elderly; at home and otherwise.
JAS team members visited various high-risk areas to identify needy elderly people and provided services as per their need. The team identified 133 people on the roads and provided services to all of them this year. The JAS team provided food, health services, identified their relatives and collected family details. Eighteen out of thirty were referred to the Aashram and the remaining to other ashrams. A training program was conducted for the JAS team with the objective of instilling confidence among the team members.
